Potential Residents

We know making the decision to apply to a program is not an easy one. Below are questions we are asked regularly by women who are deciding to apply, or who are working through the application process.

How long does the program last?

On average women are in the program for 12 months before they graduate.

Each resident must successfully progress through four stages before graduating. The length of time within each stage is individualized based on her effort to meet the goals and expectations of her current stage. However, some of the stages have specified time limitations.

A Friend's House works to encourage personal responsibility for attitudes and behaviors. Progress through the program depends on the individual and the initiative she takes in her success. After completing the first three stages, she may pursue a regular volunteer opportunity, secure a part-time job and begin to make plans for life after A Friend’s House.
