Celebrating with an AFH Graduate
On Tuesday, Feb. 23, AFH staff members, volunteers, board members and residents were able to celebrate Melissa’s graduation. Melissa came to A Friend’s House struggling with self-harm, an eating disorder and severe depression. “I thought I came here to work on my issues but really I needed to work most on my character, and that was a slow and painful process. I was prideful, but I had a lot of life skills to learn that I missed growing up,” said Melissa.

Pantry & Paper Items Needed
Thankfully, many of you help us keep our grocery costs low by donating items we use frequently. There are key pantry and paper items that we go through quickly at A Friend’s House. Since we have established menus, we know what ingredients we will need for the upcoming months. Some of our supporters pick up an extra item or two when they grocery shop. Others organize a collection within their club, family or Sunday school class.Read more

3rd Annual Cookie Walk Breaks Records
On Saturday, Dec. 12, community members set a record at the 3rd Annual A Friend’s House Cookie Walk. “Not only did we have more people attend than previous years, but they also donated more than $2800 and walked away with very delicious cookies,” said Pam Durdahl, Executive Director.Read more

Residents Learn to Make Quilts
Each day residents spend time making a craft, playing a game or working on a project together with a staff member or volunteer. In the past the ladies have made beaded bookmarks, crocheted and created greeting cards.Read more

2009 Banquet a Success
Attendees of A Friend’s House 2009 Banquet, “In His Hands”, were treated to a lovely dessert buffet, and helped donate and pledge more than $40,000 to help AFH. They also had the privilege of hearing Lacey, an AFH 2008 graduate, share her story about life before AFH and how her life was changed because of the therapy and training she received at AFH.Read more
